We receive many requests for tours of the University of Kentucky Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (UKVDL). We are always proud to show off our beautiful new laboratory and to help educate the public regarding our important mission. However, biosafety and biosecurity regulations restrict us from offering general tours in secure areas where pathogens are being actively worked with. However, we can provide a mission overview and a stimulating virtual tour of the UKVDL for your group on the third Wednesday of January, April, June, and September in our comfortable auditorium. Space is limited to roughly 100 attendees, so we recommend planning your visit as early as possible. The virtual tour includes information on the exciting science of veterinary diagnostic medicine, career opportunities, diagnostic and regulatory testing performed at the laboratory, and on request, an informative video of a professional necropsy (animal autopsy).
To register, send an email to Helen Williams at firstname.lastname@example.org and indicate the name and nature of your group and the number of guests you are planning on bringing. A confirmation email will be sent back to you. For questions please call Ms. Helen Williams at the laboratory: 859-257-8283.
