Dr. Mitch Caudill, DVM, PhD, earned both his veterinary degree and PhD from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine and, additionally, completed a master’s degree from Washington State University. His research has focused on bacterial genetics and understanding how bacterial pathogens survive during infection. Dr. Caudill has previously worked at the United States Department of Agriculture, the Washington Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory, and, most recently, as a postdoctoral scholar at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. He is excited to be joining the University of Kentucky Marton-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment and the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. In his new position as Section Head of Bacteriology-Mycology, he hopes to collaborate on new projects, expand the capabilities of the diagnostic laboratory, and aid veterinarians, producers and animal owners in understanding testing options and results. In his free time, Dr. Caudill enjoys playing board games and is looking forward to exploring the Lexington area with his wife, Katie.
