Samples received by the clinical pathology lab prior to 3:00 PM will be run same-day. Species: Equine and Canine General sample considerations: 1 mL of non-hemolyzed, non-lipemic serum. Remove serum from clot as soon as possible. Interferences which alter test results: Hemolysis can affect results; hence results should be interpreted with caution. Samples with significant hemolysis will be rejected/cancelled by the UKVDL. Lipemia significantly interferes with the assay. Samples with lipemia will be rejected/canceled by the UKVDL. Gross icterus may affect results and results should be interpreted with caution. Gel barrier tubes are NOT recommended as decreased progesterone levels have been reported in samples collected and stored in these tubes. Additional considerations: Progesterone results should not be used as the sole diagnostic tool for monitoring the estrus cycle or luteal function but used in combination with clinical examination, patient history and other findings. $19.00 $28.50 Automated Instrument (Siemens Immulite 2000)
