Molecular Biology Avian Influenza (NAHLN Methods) Poultry oropharyngeal swab (OS) suspended in either 3-3.5 mL or 5-5.5 ml of brain heart infusion (BHI) broth . Serology Avian Influenza Virus Antibody by AGID 1.5 ml serum or 2-3 ml of blood in a micro-collection tube. Ship to the laboratory as soon as possible. Sample must be protected from extreme temperatures. 2-3 working days / Test is performed Monday-Friday; schedule varies according to workload. Please contact Serology if results are needed by a specific date. This test is part of the NPIP program for flock certification / recertification, and specimens submitted for NPIP must submit a completed VS 9-2 form. Please note: cutoff time for AGID testing is 12:00 pm. Samples received after this time will be set on the next work day. Results may take as long as 48 hours from date of setup. $3.25 $4.88 AGID
