Clinical Pathology Fecal Flotation (Qualitative) Assay 5 grams of fresh fecesĀ  Sample should be submitted fresh or can be refrigerated for up to 7 days after collection. Sample should be shipped overnight cold with an ice pack. Test is performed daily if sample is received by 3:00 PM Mon-Fri This is a qualitative fecal assay in which feces are dissolved in a flotation media and ova are visualized under a microscope. This is the preferred method for small (dog, cat) and exotic animals. Results are reported in a qualitative fashion as: no parasites are seen, rare, mild, moderate, severe and TNTC (too numerous to count). $20.00 $30.00 QL
Clinical Pathology Fibrinogen Serum in a red top tube and EDTA whole blood Test is done daily if received by 3:00 PM. Mon-Fri This is not a procedure to measure fibrinogen clotting factor. $9.00 $13.50 Calculation
Clinical Pathology Free T4 1 ml serum Test is done daily if received by 3:00 PM. Mon-Fri $19.00 $28.50 Automated Instrument
Clinical Pathology Gamma GT 1 ml. serum: Clear, unhemolyzed serum is the preferred sample. Test is done daily if received by 3:00 PM. $9.00 $13.50 Automated Instrument
Clinical Pathology Giardia antigen test 1-2g feces. Can be refrigerated or frozen for no more than 7 days prior to testing. Test is done daily if received by 3:00 PM. Mon-Fri Canine and Feline only $29.00 $43.50 SNAP Test
Clinical Pathology Glucose 1 ml. serum: Clear, unhemolyzed serum is the preferred sample. Test is done daily if received by 3:00 PM. Mon-Fri $9.00 $13.50 Automated Instrument
Clinical Pathology Magnesium 1 ml. serum: Clear, unhemolyzed serum is the preferred sample. Test is done daily if received by 3:00 PM. Mon-Fri $9.00 $13.50 Automated Instrument
Clinical Pathology McMasters (Quantitative) Fecal Assay 5 grams of fresh fecesĀ  Sample should be submitted fresh or can be refrigerated for up to 7 days after collection. Sample should be shipped overnight cold with an ice pack. 24 hours or next business day The McMasters is a quantitative fecal assay for the assessment of parasite burden and monitoring of anthelmintic resistance. This is the preferred method for production animals (ruminants and other farm animals), camelids, equids, and large exotic/wild animals. This assay is an essential component of the fecal egg count reduction test which recommends a McMasters fecal assay prior to deworming. The McMasters assay is then repeated 14 days after deworming to monitor the efficacy of anthelmintic therapy. UKVDL's McMasters is based on the Roepstorff and Nansen method. Briefly, this method utilizes 4 grams of feces with a centrifugation technique to count and report each type of egg/ova. Results are reported as the # of eggs per gram of feces (eggs/g). This method reports an egg count as low as 20 eggs/g (lower limit of detection). Note: Eimeria are reported up to a maximum threshold of 10,000 oocysts/g (oocyst values greater than 10,000 will be reported as > 10,000 oocyts/g). All other ova types are reported as eggs/g with no maximum threshold. $23.00 $33.00 QN
Clinical Pathology Parasite Identification Fresh feces, blood and/or actual parasite In-House Identification $24.00 $36.00
Clinical Pathology Parasite Identification Fresh feces, blood and/or actual parasite Referred for Identification. $57.00 $85.50 Send-out
Clinical Pathology Phenobarbital 1 ml Serum Test is done daily if received by 3:00 PM. Mon-Fri $29.00 $43.50 Automated Instrument
Clinical Pathology Phosphorus 1 ml. serum: Clear, unhemolyzed serum is the preferred sample. Test is done daily if received by 3:00 PM. Mon-Fri $9.00 $13.50 Automated Instrument
Clinical Pathology Potassium 1 ml. serum: Clear, unhemolyzed serum is the preferred sample. Test is done daily if received by 3:00 PM. Mon-Fri Sample must be IMMEDIATELY spun down and serum separated from the red cells. Hemolyzed samples are totally unacceptable for this assay. Rupture of the RBC releases potassium into the serum giving falsely elevated levels. $9.00 $13.50 Automated Instrument
Clinical Pathology Progesterone 1 mL Serum (Serum must be separated from RBCs, not shipped as whole blood. Gel barrier tubes are NOT recommended.) Ship with ice pack(s) via overnight or second day courier. Do NOT allow the sample to come in direct contact with the ice pack during shipping. Test run daily, Monday - Friday. Samples received by the clinical pathology lab prior to 3:00 PM will be run same-day. Species: Equine and Canine General sample considerations: 1 mL of non-hemolyzed, non-lipemic serum. Remove serum from clot as soon as possible. Interferences which alter test results: Hemolysis can affect results; hence results should be interpreted with caution. Samples with significant hemolysis will be rejected/cancelled by the UKVDL. Lipemia significantly interferes with the assay. Samples with lipemia will be rejected/canceled by the UKVDL. Gross icterus may affect results and results should be interpreted with caution. Gel barrier tubes are NOT recommended as decreased progesterone levels have been reported in samples collected and stored in these tubes. Additional considerations: Progesterone results should not be used as the sole diagnostic tool for monitoring the estrus cycle or luteal function but used in combination with clinical examination, patient history and other findings. $19.00 $28.50 Automated Instrument (Siemens Immulite 2000)
Clinical Pathology Retic count 3-4 ml Whole blood, EDTA Test is done daily if received by 3:00 PM. Mon-Fri Automated $12.00 $18.00 Automated Instrument
